------------- Read Me First! ------------- Thanks for trying the Colorado Rockies Opening Day CD! To take advantage of all the goodies on the CD, we recommend you print this file (if you have a printer) and keep the instructions handy. If you hit any snags, you might find the TROUBLESHOOTING tips below helpful. To run the CD, your PC must meet the following requirements: -------------------- SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS -------------------- Windows 95 or NT operating system 16-bit Sound Card 90 MHz Pentium or faster processor 8 MB of available RAM 2x CD-ROM or faster QuickTimeª 2.1.2 or later (included on the CD) ------------------ TO RUN THE CD-ROM ------------------ 1. Quit all other applications. 2. Install QuickTimeª if you donÕt already have it (see instructions below). 3. Insert the CD into your CD-ROM drive. 4. If the CD doesnÕt run automatically, double-click on ÒSTART.EXEÓ in the ÒRockiesÓ folder. Or select START/RUN from your Windows task bar and type ÒD:/Start.exe (if D is the letter of your CD-ROM drive). ----------- QUICKTIMEª ----------- This CD-ROM is optimized for use with QuickTimeª 2.1.2. If you are unsure which version of QuickTimeª you have, we HIGHLY recommend you install the included version. 1. With the CD in the CD-ROM player, double-click on the ÒMy ComputerÓ icon on your desktop. 2. Right-click on the ÒRockiesÓ CD-ROM icon and select ÒExplore.Ó 3. Double-click on the ÒQuickTimeÓ folder, then double-click on ÒQt32.exe.Ó Or, select START/RUN from your Windows task bar and type D:/Qt32.exe (if D is the letter of your CD-ROM drive.) 4. Restart your computer. ---------------------------- ROCKIES CUSTOM WEB BROWSER ---------------------------- The Rockies Browser is modified from Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0. To use it, you need an Internet connection. If you donÕt have one or are unsure if you have one, contact your local Internet service provider. 1. Click on the ÒExitÓ button near the upper right corner to quit the CD. 2. Double-click on the "My Computer" icon on your desktop. Then right-click on the "Rockies" CD-ROM icon and select "Explore." 3. Double-click on the Browser folder, then double-click on the file "Setup.exe." 4. Once the IE dialog box appears, choose ÒInstall Internet Explorer.Ó 5. Complete each screen in the IE install sequence. 6. Restart your computer before using the Web browser. 7. Once youÕve returned to your desktop, to reenter the Rockies CD-ROM, double-click on the CD icon in your ÒMy ComputerÓ folder. --------------------- ROCKIES SCREEN SAVER --------------------- 1. Click on the ÒExitÓ button near the upper right corner to quit the CD. 2. If you are using ÒAfter DarkÓ or other screen saver program, turn it off. 3. Double-click on the "My Computer" icon on your desktop. Then right-click on the "Rockies" CD-ROM icon and select "Explore." 4. Double-click on the Screen Saver folder, then double-click on the file "Rockies.exe." This will install the screen saver onto your system. 5. To activate the Rockies Screen Saver: - From your Windows 95 task bar, select Start/Settings/Control Panel. - Double-click "Display" from the Control Panel window. - Select the Screen Saver tag in the Display window. - Select "Rockies" from the screen saver pull-down menu. - Click OK. Screen saver should start after one minute of inactivity. 6. To quit the screen saver, move your mouse or hit any key. ------------------- ROCKIES WALLPAPER ------------------- Copy the Wallpaper files to your system: 1. Click on the ÒExitÓ button near the upper right corner to quit the CD. 2. Double-click on the "My Computer" icon on your desktop. Then right- click on the "Rockies" CD-ROM icon and select "Explore." 3. Double-click on the Wallpaper folder. Double-click on the Patterns or Photos folder. 4. Locate your C:\Windows folder. 5. Copy any .bmp files from the Patterns or Photos folder to the C:\Windows folder. 6. Close the Windows Explorer window. Select a wallpaper file to display: 1. Click Start\Settings\Control Panel from your Windows task bar. 2. Double-click the Display icon in the control panels window. 3. Click on the ÒBackgroundÓ tab in the display window. 4. In the right-hand scrolling window, find the name of your background pattern and click on it, then click OK. You should be able to see your screen change. 5. Close the display window. ----------------- TROUBLESHOOTING ----------------- GENERAL NOTES: Multimedia Applications do not like virtual memory. Disabling virtual memory applications is recommended. Specific Problems and possible solutions: *Problem: QuickTime movies don't play, or play poorly. Solution: Install the latest version of QuickTime, included on this CD-ROM. *Problem: Audio tracks play poorly. Solution: Check that you have the required 16-bit sound card. If you donÕt, you will hear some sound impurities on the audio. -Problem: The screen isn't redrawing properly, or performance is sluggish. Solutions: 1. Be sure you have quit all other applications. 2. Restart your computer and relaunch the CD. 3. Make sure you have 5 megs of available RAM.
